Pain in older adults

Almost every person of a certain age faces pain that is caused either from degenerative alternations or some other illness. The senior patient that is in pain demands special treatment due to the biological and psycho-social differences from the younger patients. The musculoskeletal system of the elderly suffers from fatigue and alternations, and the operation of their bodies differs from those of the younger people. Drugs, as well, act in a different way and the homeostasis is easily destabilized. Characteristic examples are dehydration and electrolyte disturbances that the elderly suffer from compared to the younger ones. Furthermore, the elderly are most often lead to social isolation and depression either because they suffer from the losses of friends and family or because accessibility problems prevent them from interacting with other people.

We help the elderly to relief from pain, and increase their mobility and their activities and thus maintain a better quality of life.
